In southern British Columbia the landscape was a surprise again: a mixture of mountains and prairie. The prospectors were a bit uninventive, when it came to naming their towns, which were trading posts on their way to the northern gold fields. On our route we came through small towns like “150 Mile House”, “108 Mile House”, “100 Mile House”, “70 Mile House”. These names just mark the distance between them and the beginning of the road.
Die Landschaft im südlichen British Columbia war eine echte Überraschung. Eine Mischung aus Bergen und Prärie. Die Goldsucher waren recht unoriginell bei der Namensgebung der Orte, die hier Versorgungspunkte auf dem Weg in die nördlichen Goldfelder waren: Auf der Strecke durchfuhren wir Siedlungen wie „150 Mile House“, „108 Mile House“, „100 Mile House“, „70 Mile House“. Diese Namen benannten einfach die Entfernung vom Beginn der Strasse.

mann, bei den ganzen riesigen trödelläden wird man ja ganz neidisch. hier heißt ja jetzt alles vintage und ist arschteuer!
Fenke: Ist, denke ich, für die Amis umgekehrt genauso. Für die ist das hier größtenteils Schrott und auf deutschen Trödelmärkten fänden sie Sachen interessant, die wir als Müll ansehen.
