…and such beautiful colors! I ran to the display in auspicious ecstasy but unfortunately these are actually spray cans. I like the design but would have loved such super fat Edding markers (compare the size of the normal permanent markers on the right side). Edding is very popular in Germany, their company name is used as a generic name for permanent markers. Seen in this shop in Mettmann.

Mai machen Münsterländer Maitouren, mit Bierfass oder -kästen im Fahrradanhänger und feucht-fröhlichen Pausen.

I was on a May tour with family and friends. On May 1st, people in the German Münsterland traditionally make a May tour, a bike tour with a barrel or crates of beer in a bike trailer and several boozy and jolly stopovers.

Modell eines Teils des „Tausendfüßlers“, einer Auto-Hochstrasse in Düsseldorf. Ab Montag, den 25.2.2013 wird er abgerissen, aller Autoverkehr verschwindet in Tunnel. Am Sonntag, den 24.2. wird er für Autos gesperrt und zum ersten Mal seit Bau in den frühen 1960ern für Fußgänger geöffnet.
Millipede – Model of a part of the “Tausendfüßler“, an elevated road in downtown Düsseldorf, Germany. The name means Millipede and comes from it’s many stilts. On Monday, Feb 25th 2013 the demolition starts, all car traffic will disappear into tunnels. On Sunday 24th the Fly-Over will be closed for cars and opened for pedestrians for the first time since it’s construction in the early 1960’s.

Update 23.2.2013, per Mail von Spielwaren Schaper: „Über das ganze Jahr 2012 sind die Figuren von Menschen in Düsseldorf ausgesucht, gekauft und auf das Diorama gestellt worden. Das Ziel, auf diese Weise über 1.000 Füße/Beine auf das Modell stellen zu können, ist erreicht, und in den kommenden Wochen soll das Schaustück versteigert werden zum Nutzen von Menschen, ‘die unter der Brücke leben’.“
Update Feb 23rd 2013, from a mail from the toy store: “Over the whole year 2012 the figures were chosen, bought and placed on the diorama by people in Düsseldorf. Our goal to set 1,000 feet/legs onto the model is reached, in a few weeks the showpiece will be auctioneered for the benefit of people ‘who live under bridges’.”
