In the afternoon we drove from Richmond to Washington D.C., the abbreviation stands for “District of Columbia”. D.C. is like a city state wedged between Virginia and Maryland, it’s borders look like a half rhombus. Driving into Washington we saw the Pentagon and took the first exit to take detailed photos from all sides of the building. But we didn’t find any visitors entrance and crossed dozens of parking lots around the pentagonal building until a gatekeeper showed us the way out. “No visitors, no photography nowhere”. Picture above: Washington Monument with one flag for each of the 50 U.S. states.

Travel-Reise-Monopoly-mini-Motel-bed-Bett-Washington-DC-USA-DSCN8360.jpg

In the evening in a motel: a game of Monopoly for distraction. When we checked in we laughed about the sign saying “Don’t open your door for strangers at night”. Now we’re trying to ignore the constant knocking on our door and window. The guy might want to foist something on us, or rob us. All night long a couple in a room above us tried to kill each other, at least that’s what they always shouted. For such clients the motel guy had installed a loud speaker system. From his locked chamber he always offered to call the police, when they were too loud again. Once again our niggardliness lead us to the worst part in town, Mediteranean Avenue resp. Old Kent Road.

Also uns!
