Gestern im Neandertal, Mettmann und Erkrath, wo 1856 erstmals Überreste des Neanderthalers entdeckt wurden.

Fall colors, Neandertal, Mettmann and Erkrath, Germany. Yesterday. The Neanderthal Man got its name from the Neandertal Valley. In 1856 remains of the Homo neanderthalensis were found here for the first time.

Ein Mann zieht ein Klavier auf einem Hubwagen hinter sich her und lacht, während ich ihn im Vorbeifahren fotografiere. Aufgenommen vom Fahrrad während einer Maitour im Münsterland. Jedes Jahr am 1. Mai machen Münsterländer Maitouren, mit Bierfass oder -kästen im Fahrradanhänger und feucht-fröhlichen Pausen.

I was on a May tour with family and friends. On May 1st, people in the German Münsterland traditionally make a May tour, a bike tour with a barrel or crates of beer in a bike trailer and several boozy and jolly stopovers.

Atomium

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Atomium. It was built for the 1958 World Expo in Brussels, Belgium, and actually was planned to stand for just six month. It’s form shapes a unit cell of the iron crystal.

Dieses Jahr wird das Atomium 50 Jahre alt. Gebaut zur Brüsseler Weltausstellung 1958 sollte es eigentlich nur 6 Monate stehen. Es hat die Form einer Elementarzelle eines Eisenkristalls.

Take the “death ride” on top at a height of 102 meters.

Zum Jubiläum gibts in 102 Metern Höhe den „Death Ride“.
